What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manual Coating Operator position at American SpiralWeld Pipe Company, LLC?
GENERAL SUMMARY: Blasts pipe to remove rust, contamination, and poly coating to prepare pipes for coating. Performs taping & coating procedures and prepares pipe for shipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: include the Manual Lining & Coating Operator I station duties described below. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to cross training and housekeeping. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to all safety rules.
- Maintains blasting, taping and coating machinery by performing preventive maintenance, and reports repair or extensive maintenance requirements to Team Leader.
- Breakdown, fix and reassemble ID blaster
- Change out nozzles on blasting holes, gaskets on hoses pipes, ID hose to OD hose on the pots
- Check levels on the silos for the shots/black beauty (media).
- Fill the pots.
- Set up bunks for different pipes.
- Set up ID blaster.
- Clean ID blaster.
- Maintains protective abrasive hood with respirator.
- Confers with department Team Leader to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from production control or engineering departments.
- Positions pipe for blasting, positions shrouds for protection, operates blasting control console to perform blasting operations per drawings and specifications.
- Applies primer, coating, or tape per customer specifications by operating machinery and monitoring application of tape or coating.
- Reads customer specification and drawings to determine type of coating, position of holdbacks and other specifications for setting up pipe for taping and/or coating operations.
- Reads, understands and interprets specifications from pyschrometer to determine the dew point and humidity before blasting
- Places end caps on pipe.
- Removes pipe from work area and stages it for removal to yard, shipping area, or fab finishing area.
- Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.
