What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Engineer position at American Standard Circuits?
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Actively involved in engineering activities that pertain to the planning and formulation of manufacturing processes and applications to produce quality circuit boards according to customer's requirements and in the most economical manner possible. This position would include re-design of and testing process equipment. Implementation of process automation and new equipment (load / unload, drilling, depanelization, inspection, part identification), supplier interaction, process documentation and work instructions, control plans, and PFMEA's. Training as an Internal Process Auditor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains total awareness of company policies, rules, and procedures.
- Analyzesspecifications, blueprints, and job orders.
- Investigate process related problems necessary for the manufacturing of printed circuits.
- Make recommendations for process improvements and new equipment.
- Improve product yields, efficiency, and safety of operations.
- Study, evaluate, and recommend new technologies involved in production of leading edge and Ultra High Density circuitry production.
- Interact with customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Process Engineering Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
A college degree or 5 years of experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to communicate orally with vendors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential.
Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.
No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally may be required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, monitors, calculators, copiers microscopes, inspection and various measurement equipment.
Good reasoning ability is required to solve a wide range of business problems. Able to apply statistical calculations, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory as well as algebra, linear equations, and other analytics as required. Able to understand and utilize financial reports and legal documents to conduct business.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed indoors in a traditional office setting with continuous interaction with the people and / or equipment in the manufacturing environment. The manufacturing environment incorporates many different manufacturing technologies and processes including mechanical drilling, routing, and scoring machines, laser cutting technologies, photographic imaging equipment, screen-printing, hot press laminations, electrical and automated optical inspection and a large array of chemical plating and etching processes.
