Position Summary
The Shipping and Receiving Assistant supports warehouse operations by receiving incoming material, helping to manage inventory (counting and reconciling to tagged inventory database), and verifying outgoing deliveries against shipping manifest/purchase orders. The Shipping and Receiving Assistant serves as a supervisor when the Warehousing Foreman is unavailable to do so. The Shipping and Receiving Assistant should be engaged in business operations by actively participating in company events, training, education, and Lean Manufacturing
What You’ll Do
- Foster a culture of safety awareness & safety prioritization.
- Ensure that quality standards are met, champion quality ownership of the work center.
- Enforce all company rules, policies, and procedures; communicate issues or concerns with division management and/or Corporate.
- Greet truck drivers.
- Prepare all shipping documents and forms.
- Check and review supplied paperwork.
- Inspect, Verify, and measure inbound products and store them in designated areas.
- File all completed and unshipped work orders.
- File all work orders linked to incoming stock.
- Control and maximize unloading and loading inside the facility.
- Perform any other tasks or duties as assigned by the division and/or corporate management team.
Education Requirements
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (such as a GED) is required.
Experience and Certification
- Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in handling/overseeing shipping and receiving duties.
- 3-5 years of experience working with computer/network systems (Microsoft Office Suite, ERP/Inventory Management Software, etc.).
- Forklift and Bridge Crane experience preferred.

- Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance (mechanical aptitude).
- Ability to apply mathematical skills and techniques to solve production problems.
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Must be able to operate systems independently and with little oversight.

- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
