Position Summary:
Under the Direction of Rectifier Team Leader, an Electro-Mechanical Assembler II will perform the following tasks listed below. May be required to perform other manufacturing duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Assembling and installing electro-mechanical components for large transformer/rectifiers, including building the complete unit as part of the production team.
- An EMA is also required to assemble and install complex electro/mechanical components prototypes.
- Uses various shop tools and machinery including but not limited to soldering irons, drills, grinders, sanders, punches, cutters shears, power saws, drill presses and other hand tools.
- Required to assemble heavy cables and use lug presses.
- EMA will be able to use shears, bending and bracket machining.
- Will document parts, changes, and procedures. Makes educated decisions as to layout and assembly when required with guidance from Supervisors and/or engineers.
- Will fill out checklist and QC documents as required.
- Keeps work area clean and organized.
- Meets budget/labor hours on jobs/tasks to adhere to the production schedule without compromising workmanship.
- The EM Assembler will rotate to different areas in production and learn a wide variety of skills and processes.
- Perform all other duties assigned by management.
Education – Experience:
- 2 years experience assemblying large electro-mechanical units in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and various machines/equipment (at least one year).
- Accurately and completely record all necessary information to worksheets in a timely manner.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Proficient with reading and following work instructions, mechanical drawings, schematics, blueprints and quality procedures.
- Must be able to properly distinguish and use all types of tools (both hand and power tools) and equipment required for position, including but not limited to torque wrench, saws, drill press, grinders, sanders, shears, paper cutter, punch press, etc.
- Must be able to safely operate forklifts and operate over head cranes and successfully complete certification training for same.
- Works in an orderly manner and consistently keeps work area and toolbox orderly, organized and clean.
Required Skills, Competencies, Authorities and Training Needs:
Essential Functions:
- Ability to stand, stoop and or kneel for extended periods of time.
- Ability to drive forklift and operate crane once trained.
- Ability to climb ladders and maneuver through tight areas to work in/on large units. Protective PPE, harness/fall arrest system is provided and required.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis and stand/walk 95% of the day.
- Ability to work overtime to meet production schedule.
