American Surgical Group is seeking a Director of Clinical Operations/Facilities Director to oversee and manage clinical operations in the Greater Washtenaw County and Oakland County areas. This role involves day-to-day management and long-term planning of patient care areas, ensuring high-quality services are provided in multi-surgical-center and multi-specialty settings. General Summary:
Promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; providing physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other people in a position to understand service requirements.
· Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
· Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
· Maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training nurses and auxiliary staff.
· Communicates workplace safety precautions to the staff.
· Conducts and documents regular facility inspections.
· Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and staff, following up on work results.
· Maintains nursing staff results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
· Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
· Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching and counseling patient, friends, and family and reinforcing their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills.
· Provides information to patients and health care teams by answering questions and requests.
· Resolve patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
· Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from other health care professionals.
· Protect patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
· Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
· Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records.
· Achieves financial objectives by utilizing an annual budget.
· Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability.
· Completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
· Evaluate the need for repairs and maintenance and coordinate it.
· Maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
· Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies; approving requisitions and cost allocations.
· Maintains, evaluates vendor contract.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
· Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
· Ensure all daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly quality logs are maintained.
· Create new quality logs as needed (upon new specialties and or services added to the operation).
· Visually inspect the facility for any corrugated boxed, misplaced miscellaneous items on a daily basis.
· Ensure all staff comply with company policies and procedures on a regular basis.
· Addressing employee issues and non-compliance.
· Communicate with scheduler to ensure the center is properly and adequately staffed daily.
· Delegate tasks and utilize available staff for vacations and/or unplanned sick absences.
· Communicate with Operating Room staff to ensure all equipment and supplies are readily available for planned cases.
· Work closely with new physicians during onboarding and ensure standing orders are completed and monitor the standing orders for any changes.
· Handle any complaints/issues with service provider performance.
· Maintain and monitor detailed cleaning service duties; ensure to add/change duties as needed for the facility.
· Address and diffuse any staff conflict that does not warranty Human Resource involvement.
· Annual review of policies and procedures to ensure they support facility operations.
· Recommend additional policies and procedures depending on specialties being added.
· Upon addition of new specialty, review and recommend changes to forms.
· Coordinate Bio-Med check for any new equipment added to the center.
· Coordinate in-service staff meetings to inform them of changes made to forms, policies and procedures.
· Ensure and coordinate monthly in-service staff are completed.
· Strategize topics regarding frequent issues during monthly in-service staff meeting relating to safety and infection control.
· Ensuring the logistics of the staff is optimal and supported.
· Plan lunch breaks for the staff while ensuring the facility is continuously operating.
· Ensure crash cart and MH cart are properly stocked and with no expired items at all times.
· Ensure and coordinate any reps needed for cases are on the schedule.
· Reviews schedule and coordinates with anesthesia providers to ensure proper anesthesia coverage.
· Ensure all DME are available onsite for the upcoming cases.
· Ensure the supply inventory is adequate and maintained to minimize waste.
· Coach and ensure all staff are pulling inventory by utilizing the oldest items first.
· Ensure the staff has completed initial and annual training.
· Orient new staff during onboarding.
· Staff need to be oriented on all tests completed at the center (Example: pregnancy, glucose, INR, CLIA).
· Complete incident reports related to infection and reactions on an as-needed basis; research if corrective action is needed before finalizing the report.
· Ensure all hospital transfers are followed up on and the transfer log is completed; research if corrective action is needed before finalizing the report.
· Complete all staff in-service needed related to any hospital transfers and incident reports.
· Oversee infection control processes to ensure any infection related incident are properly documented, logged, and addressed.
· Strategize with infection control officer on any in-service needed to ensure proper infection control is in place.
· Continuously evaluate and monitor any safety issues related to the use of equipment and any improper staff technique being used.
· And any other duties required to maintain safe and compliant operations for the physicians, patients, and staff.
· Requires possession of a valid certificate as a registered nurse issued by the state board of nursing examiners.
