JOB DESCRIPTION:
As an OR RN Manager, you will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the operating and procedure rooms, ensuring the smooth flow of surgical cases and optimal patient care. You will supervise OR staff, manage schedules, maintain regulatory compliance, and collaborate with medical teams to ensure top-tier surgical performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pre-Surgical Setup: Prepare the operating room with the necessary instruments and supplies for various procedures. Ensure an aseptic field and anticipate surgeon’s needs during surgeries.
- OR Staff Management: Develop staff schedules based on case complexity, staffing levels, and patient needs. Lead recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing staff training.
- Surgical Assistance: As scrub or sterile nurse, assist the surgeon during operations by providing instruments and supplies, and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards, including infection control, while monitoring surgical team performance and providing continuous support.
- Collaboration: Work with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to coordinate patient care, optimize patient flow, and enhance communication across departments.
- Quality Improvement: Implement initiatives to improve surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Inventory and Equipment Management: Manage OR inventory, sterilization of instruments, and ensure proper equipment availability for all procedures.
- Operational Support: Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and operational efficiency within the OR.
- Leadership: Lead team-building activities, performance evaluations, and foster a positive culture within the OR. Act as a liaison between staff and management.
Qualifications:
- Required: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience: Proven experience in OR nursing, with leadership experience in a surgical setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, aseptic technique, and OR procedures. Ability to manage staff, streamline operations, and ensure high-quality patient care.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, and assist during long surgeries. Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment safely.
Compensation:
The salary for this position will be determined based on experience, education, certifications, and the complexity of the facility and case load.
