Highway Safety Program Assistant Coordinator

Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the American Trauma Society, PA Division (ATSPA) Chief Executive Officer and the South Central PA Highway Safety Coordinator, the Assistant Coordinator is a full-time (40 hours per week) professional position. This position is responsible for coordinating and presenting highway safety/traffic safety educational programs in the Pennsylvania counties of Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin and Perry.
Hybrid Position Description & Requirements:
This position requires (2) work days per week in-office (Tuesdays, Thursdays) and offers (3) days remote work per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays). Upon hire, candidate will be required to work full-time (Mon-Fri), in office, for a minimum of (8) weeks, to allow ample time for successful onboarding.
Position Responsibilities:
· Assist Highway Safety Coordinator with maintaining grant statistics
· Prepare correspondence, documentation, and daily logs
· Applies for new grant opportunities and ensures compliance to existing grant protocols
· Facilitates coalitions with law enforcement, government agencies and community organizations to address state and national traffic safety-related issues
· Ensure active event promotion for annual Safe Driving Competition for Youth and Driver’s Education Seminar events
· Provide support for Child Passenger Safety Training classes and child safety seat installations
· Develop, promote and present classes on general traffic and passenger safety to wide range of audiences
· Assist with public relations promotion, providing information to local media outlets, as requested
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in related field; prior education/teaching or law enforcement experience preferred
· Applicant must possess integrity, professionalism, and a strong work ethic
· Experience in professional networking and building community partnerships
· Energetic “go-getter” with drive and desire to succeed
· Strong public speaking skills
· Strong interpersonal communication skills
· Experience with grant writing and application procedures preferred but not required
· Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
· Child Passenger Safety Technician certification required upon employment
Compensation:
Starting annual salary for this position: $45,000
