Responsibilities
Labor and Delivery (L&D) nurses administer medications, monitor fetal heart rates, assist with labor induction, and collaborate with physicians to develop infant delivery plans. This role requires nurses to be skilled in the entire birth process, from antepartum to neonatal to newborn nursery, and all related subspecialties. L&D nurses can find employment in various settings, including hospitals, pediatric facilities, birthing centers, health clinics, and OB/GYN outpatient offices. Compassion and positivity are essential for this role.
Qualifications
- 1 year of recent experience in Labor and Delivery and the corresponding setting
- Valid nursing license as required by the state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA recommended and may be required
- Specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required
