Emergency Room RN Responsibilities
- Assess a patient's injuries or condition upon arrival.
- Have excellent attention to detail and verbal communication skills.
- Identify signs and symptoms and communicate the assessment of the patient to the physician.
- Implement treatment plans, explain prescription information, administer IVs, medications, and injections, and conduct EKGs and other triage elements.
- Understand hospital discharge policies, as well as government policies on treating, transferring, and discharging patients from the hospital.
Emergency Room RN Qualifications
- 1 year of recent experience in this specialty and setting.
- Valid nursing license as required by this state.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through AHA recommended and may be required.
- Specialty-related certifications are preferred and may be required.
