The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support our Office of Public Affairs in amplifying ATA’s communications strategy and solidifying our role as the premier advocate for the trucking industry.
The Communications Coordinator is an entry-level position that assists in executing ATA’s communications strategy. This role is ideal for an aspiring communications professional with a passion for writing, public relations, and digital media. You will play a key role in helping our team distribute key communications that support ATA’s mission and enhance our reputation within the industry.
This is an entry-level, full-time position with no supervisory or budgetary responsibilities. We offer an opportunity to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Edit and distribute a variety of communications materials, including press releases, e-newsletters, blog posts, and social media content.
- Conduct research to support advocacy efforts and messaging strategies.
- Track and monitor media coverage, compiling reports and providing insights for internal stakeholders.
- Manage the media inbox, flagging action items and coordinating responses.
- Perform administrative tasks such as organizing files, taking notes, and tracking communications projects.
- Monitor and manage social media interactions via Sprout, responding to comments as needed.
- Assist in the daily production and distribution of ATA’s Daily Digest by identifying relevant articles and content.
- Keep a close eye on industry news, digital platforms, and social media for mentions of ATA and the trucking industry.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, conference rooms, and events for the communications team.
- Support the team with additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, preferably in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of relevant experience, including internships in communications, public relations, or marketing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and email marketing platforms is a plus.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with team members and external stakeholders.
- Interest in public policy, trade associations, and/or the trucking industry is a plus.

Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
