Job Description
The Machine Shop Lead is responsible for organizing and overseeing the successful execution of the following departments: waterjet, polishing, fabrication, conventional machinists, assembly, and outside services. Supervisor will also oversee shop projects, installations, and repairs mechanical devices and components throughout the plant.
We need an individual who is experienced and innovative to:
- Give support to the floor team members and supervisors.
- Oversee and coordinate with supervisors and sales representatives to schedule, track and complete work orders to meet production goals.
- Collaborate with purchasing team to track inventory and ensure materials are stocked as needed.
- Work with the engineering and supervisor's department to ensure production meets design specifications and quality standards. Inspects work in progress and finished goods.
- Support and hands-on with personnel in the correct use of equipment/machinery, specification compliance, and proper recordkeeping.
- Support with problem-solving initiatives to analyze quality failures and help drive quality improvements.
- Will allocate job assignments in support of workflow through the facility.
- Enforcing safety rules and procedures on the shop floor with team members. Investigate and document all near misses, unsafe acts and conditions, and accidents.
- Will work with various types of materials, aluminum, steel, plastics, food grade and adhesives etc.
- Must be familiar with shop equipment and the proper safe usage of band saws, drill press, conventional lathes, and mills, shears, bending machines, among others.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Implement and sustain organization and 5S structures.
- The candidate should have knowledge of sheet metal cutting and forming equipment, must be mechanically inclined, act decisively and have good communication skills.
- Sustains cleanliness of given departments.
