Summary : The Assistant Director, Talent Development & Engagement is responsible for operationalizing all aspects of Talent, Leadership, and Engagement. This position administers staff learning, development and performance program operations, ensuring all aspects are carried out on time, in budget, and with excellence. The Assistant Director implements new programs based on identified needs for staff development and monitors programs and reports on metrics. The Assistant Director manages and monitors the university learning management system which includes, Talent, Learning and Performance; and manages and monitors university staff performance management program. Essential Functions : Ensures execution of existing and new learning and development programs and manages for quality, timeliness, and budget.
Oversees staffing schedule of training courses and programs, and delivers training as part of the schedule when needed.
Monitors delivery of programs to ensure quality.
May perform curriculum and instructional design for courses developed in-house, and ensures consistency and integration of all programs across all the learning areas.
Works with campus stakeholders to plan and / or design learning identified through gap analysis.
Ensures each year has a planned selection of programs and courses that meet university needs.
Develops metrics to measure staff development effectiveness, training effectiveness, and incorporates into programs. Tracks and reports against metrics, utilizing data to find key insights to improve programs and services.
Liaises with external vendors, building relationships and assessing quality. Maintains industry expertise, and expertise in learning management software.
Administers the university’s performance management programs and systems.
Ensures that staff and supervisors have the information, tools and training needed to effectively manage performance, and solicits input and feedback to make improvements.
Tracks and audits the performance management processes to ensure compliance.
With the Sr. Director of Talent Strategies and other stakeholders, identifies needed changes to the program and works to implement.
Works with OIT, HRIS, and Sr. Director TS to make any system configuration changes that correspond with program changes.
Has system configuration capability and works with OIT and other partners to ensure performance operates effectively.
Works with Sr Director Talent Strategies and others to plan and execute new development and engagement programs , providing options, staffing estimates, external delivery options, and cost estimates.
Prioritizes new development based upon strategic need, resources, and shares new development plans with HR senior leadership.
Drives Talent Strategies implementation, working with the Talent Strategies team, HR stakeholders, community stakeholders, and external partners
Manages and monitors the learning management and performance management platform to ensure consistency of data input and reporting on talent, performance and learning to include learning catalog, talent profiles and performance.
Has system configuration capability and works with OIT and other partners to ensure LMS operates effectively.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
Full-time.
Exempt.
35 hours per week.
Salary Range :
95,000 - $110,000 annually
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Experience in HR, performance management, and / or learning, and experience running the operations of HR projects and programs required.
Ability to manage initiatives to completion on time and budget, solve problems, and work with stakeholders.
Knowledge of HR professional legal standards and concepts.
Ability to incorporate DEI values into programs.
Skill using Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel to develop briefings, presentations and reports and conduct data analysis.
Ability to quickly master new platforms.
Ability to or experience with supervision and team management.
Preferred Education and Experience :
4-6 years of relevant experience.
Skill applying professional curriculum design and development principles and methods to develop training and development programs targeting specific employee groups and topics.
Skill counseling managers in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring effective performance management programs that support organizational development and formal & informal employee incentives, recognition and rewards programs.
Training and presentation skills : developing in others, any skills and knowledge that is specific to a program or functional area; combines exercises, group discussions, webinars, lectures, and other methods to meet diverse learning styles; uses props, slides, and other presentation aids well; ensures that content is current, and that activities are engaging and effective so that the audience clearly understands the intended message.
Skill with LMS, performance, ERP and other platforms, including ability to configure and troubleshoot.
