Summary / Objective : The Pre-Award Coordinator supports the preparation and submission of grant proposals for CAS faculty and staff under the guidance of the Director of Pre-Award Grants and Contracts. This role is essential to ensuring compliance with CAS, University, and sponsor policies and procedures during the pre-award phase. Key responsibilities include developing budgets, preparing internal and sponsor forms, and coordinating the internal approval process for proposals. Additionally, the position serves as a backup for post-award administrative services, including budget operations, project management, and financial reporting. This position is crucial in ensuring the smooth execution of CAS’s grant activities and fostering collaboration across the university’s research infrastructure. Essential Functions :

- Pre-award Budget Development - Works with faculty and staff to develop and prepare proposal budgets for submission to external funding agencies. This includes development of budgets to ensure compliance with CAS, University, and Sponsor practices, policies, and requirements; preparation of internal and sponsor forms; and coordinating the internal CAS approval process.
- Pre-award Administration - Assist faculty and staff in preparing proposal materials for submission, including but not limited to : preparation of all forms; coordination with AU research compliance staff as necessary in specific situations (IRB, IACUC); creation of the proposal routing chain in Cayuse, and uploading all materials into Cayuse for a successful proposal submission. This position will require substantial cooperation with research faculty within CAS, and the research support infrastructure both within CAS and the university more broadly.
- Compliance - Ensures compliance with rules, regulations, policies and procedures in conjunction with CAS, OSARA, principal investigators, the Departments, and other University offices. This may include assistance with compliance tasks and assistance with post-awards grant administration activities when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by the CAS Dean or Associate Deans, or supervisor. This position will also function as a backup for post-award administrative services, including, but not limited to budget operations and project management, financial analysis and reporting.
