Summary :
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) position at WAMU 88.5 manages a portfolio of approximately 200 assigned and qualified donors, cultivating relationships, soliciting high-level gifts and assuring that donors are retained and upgraded in their giving and involvement.
The MGO creates stewardship plans and sets individual goals for each donor. Working collaboratively across the organization, the MGO secures project and program information and creates compelling offers, proposals and stewardship reports to donors. The MGO is responsible for meeting the financial goals set for the position and creating monthly and other timely reports to track portfolio performance and activity. The role also provides input and oversight of the WAMU Leadership Circle along with other donor cultivation and stewardship activities and events.
The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Director of Development, discretion.
The MGO spends approximately 75% of their time in donor-facing activities (meetings, crafting correspondence, calls, etc.)
Essential Functions :

- Qualifies a caseload of 200 donors from a larger group of donors to the organization. Creates individual goals for each person on the caseload based on the donor’s history of giving and the knowledge of that donor’s potential, and creates a plan for each donor that will serve as a foundational communication and marketing plan for each prospective donor.
- Implements and executes individual stewardship plan. Ensures donors are engaged with WAMU content through individual visits, tours of the station, meetings with hosts and leadership staff, and other opportunities as identified. Supports the execution of donor-centric events that facilitate stewardship and retention.
- Manages prospect / donor communication and drafts specific proposals for assigned prospects. Works with content and marketing staff to secure appropriate information (including budgets), and create offers, proposals, and asks that will be used to secure gifts and report back to donors on how their donations were used. Conducts basic prospect research for portfolio.
- Creates monthly reports as required by management that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance.

Salary Range :
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
3-5 years of relevant experience
Preferred Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree
4-6 years of relevant experience
Familiarity with CRM databases Revolution Online, Salesforce.
Experience managing portfolios of major donors
Experience in identifying opportunities to uplift donor giving
Experience in planned giving a plus
Experience in public broadcasting a plus.
Travel Required :
Local and regional travel in the WAMU listening area.
Hybrid Modality 1 : Minimum 3-4 days onsite per week
