Summary:
The Athletic Operations Manager is responsible for most of the overall setups and breakdowns of events held in the Department of Athletics and Recreation managed facilities. The Athletic Operations Manager assists in coordinating logistics and planning special event preparation and site preparedness for all home athletic events and some hosted internal and external events. The position coordinates with several on-campus departments to assist with these events. In addition, the Athletic Operations Manager assists in the coordination of student staff members and part-time staff members to execute events. The Athletic Operations Manager oversees event execution for assigned varsity programs each year. Responsible for administrative duties including but not limited to key and access management, facilities inspections and coordination with housekeeping, and concessions management. This position works under a general level of supervision.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates on-site event preparation for all home athletic events, as well as some internal and external hosted events. This includes setup, execution, supervision, and breakdown of each event.
Is responsible for home athletic event management for assigned varsity athletic programs. This includes setup, execution, and breakdown of all aspects of those events.
Trains and supervises a staff of part-time employees and student employees for daily facility maintenance, event preparation, and miscellaneous tasks to ensure that all activities are staffed and executed properly.
Conducts research on potential equipment purchases for the department and works on special projects as part of the strategic plan of the department as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations.
Handles security needs for the department including event-specific security detail as well as student-athletes, contractors, and staff access throughout Bender Arena.
Administrative tasks including keys/access management, facilities inspections, housekeeping requests, and concessions management.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations.
Supervisory Responsibility:
The Athletic Operations Manager reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities & Operations and works in conjunction with the Department of Athletics and Recreation staff. Reporting to this position are student and part-time employees.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time.
35 hours/week.

Salary Range:
$25.00-$28.00/hr. (Commensurate with experience).
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Management, or a related field.
1-3 years of relevant experience.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
Deadline-oriented.
Demonstrated time management.
Problem-solving.
Customer service skills.
The ability to manage many projects at once and to delegate projects when necessary is vital to the success of this position.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Inventorying and cash handling experience preferred.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long hours.
