The Video Producer is the primary producer of video and related content for university communications, marketing, and digital engagement. The position is responsible for every aspect of video production from pre-production through to post-production, including concepting, planning, producing, shooting, interviewing, editing, mixing, color correction, music, graphics, and captions. Videos and other digital content are produced in collaboration with, and at the direction of, the communications and marketing teams to distribute across the university’s channels. The Video Producer will coordinate with video production colleagues in other university departments to leverage and share assets and content.
This position will require an entrepreneurial and cooperative spirit to capture brief clips with short notice to be used for social media, along with the university’s weekly newsletter, in addition to longer term projects, both of which will require prioritization.
Responsibilities include researching, developing, and pitching content ideas; coordinating, conducting and filming events, interviews, b-roll and other types of content; editing, and all aspects of post-production, including producing multiple forms of content for AU’s social media channels, AU Now, the AU website, and other university publications and channels, and support of paid digital advertising. The Video Producer must manage multiple assignments, moving from quick edits to longer-term projects as required, and understand and apply the best practices for video storytelling and audience engagement. Key audiences include prospective students and families, current students, faculty and staff, alumni, higher education leaders, the media, and influencers.
The Video Producer must have exceptional videography and Adobe Premiere editing skills along with strong script writing, excellent communication skills, and time management abilities.

Plan, produce and deliver video and digital content that supports AU’s strategic priorities, including but not limited to enrollment, retention, university reputation, academic profile, research, scholarship, and community engagement.
Campus Partner Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to create efficiencies, maximize video and digital content production, and create a robust set of video assets across the university. Coordinate regular meetings and interactions with videographers and other digital creators in the schools and colleges, Student Affairs, University Advancement, Undergraduate Enrollment, and other university units. Create shared video editorial calendar. Story Collaborator (25%): Work together with UCM colleagues to develop stories and video content that supports university priorities, enhances university reputation, contributes to core functions such as enrollment and retention, and delivers key messages.
