Job Summary:
As a Medical Assistant at American Vein & Vascular Institute this position performs a wide variety of duties and responsibilities in a manner that places emphasis on quality patient care and customer service. This position must work collaboratively with all clinic staff, fostering an environment which promotes patient comfort and trust. This position must exemplify the core values of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy and tact in patient/staff interactions. Location: South Colorado Springs Printers Parkway clinic. Work Hours: Mon - Fri, 7:30am - 6:30pm.
Essential job functions and responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities
v Warmly welcome and room patients. Take vitals and record med changes into EMR. Obtain lower extremity measurements and photos when required. Accurate and timely EMR data entry.
v Prep sterile trays, tumescent bags, injection syringes, and ensure procedure room environment is clean, sanitized, and comfortable.
v Assist with procedures including patient consent, surgical prep, surgical assist, patient comfort, procedure dressing, post-procedure care instructions, and room cleaning/sanitizing.
v Clean and maintain autoclave equipment.
Additional Responsibilities
v Follow the American Vein way by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
v Adherence to HIPAA federal regulations by safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential, and utilizing the “minimum necessary” rule.
v Verify diagnostic studies and procedures and ensure procedure authorizations/ pre-determinations are active and documented in the patient chart.
v Verify consent forms are completed and filed appropriately.
v Coordinate outgoing referrals, authorizations, and clinic follow up as needed.
v Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following safety policies and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
v Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies performing monthly mandatory preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
v Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and staying current in the areas of practice relative to diagnostic and phlebology services.
v Enhance practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
v Occasionally fill in for Medical Receptionist if needed.
v Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
v High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
v One to three years related experience
Language Skills
v Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
v Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
v Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
v Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
v Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
v Ability to apply common sense understanding to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

v To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word processing, Internet, E-mail and EMR Software.
