Primary Role
Maintains, installs, and repairs plant equipment and operates plant associated facilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Troubleshoots, installs, operates, maintains, inspects, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance duties on the equipment at the waste water treatment plants including, but not limited to, pumps, blowers, motors, chemical feed equipment, screens, mixers, filters, flow meters, gauges, valves, wash water processing equipment and related instrumentation and control equipment.
- Calibrates and adjusts chemical feed and process equipment including instrumentation and control systems.
- Monitors the waste water treatment plants and makes adjustments as necessary to control their operations. Performs sampling, testing, and laboratory analysis to monitor process and determine compliance with Federal, State, and PAW's standards.
- Performs necessary emergency operating procedures and takes proper corrective action for continuous effective operation of the water purification plants. (0% Maintains all necessary records, tools, and work equipment.
- Performs maintenance and custodial duties at the water purification plants.
- Performs light construction projects as needed including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, masonry, etc.
- Specifies and initiates orders for parts and supplies.
- Assumes duties of Plant Operator in the absence of the Operator.
- Performs delivery, loading, unloading, and placing of water treatment chemicals into storage, including chemical receiving and inventory.
- Maintains grounds, buildings, roadways, screens, reservoirs, and right- of-ways.
- Mechanical ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves, motors, and other mechanical equipment related to plant operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic scientific and water purification concepts.
- High School graduate or state-recognized equivalency certificate required. Technical college course work and/or degree in electrical, electronics, or applicable engineering curriculum is preferred
- Successful completion of the following correspondence course: " Volume 1 - Water Treatment Plant Operation" offered by the University of California at Sacramento is preferred
- Prior experience maintaining equipment in an industrial setting is preferred.
- Prior water treatment experience is preferred
- Basic computer skills: experience with Microsoft Office
- Previous maintenance experience is preferred
- Must be able to travel within two plants
- Position is a day shift: M-F 7am to 3:30pm. Position is subject to 24 hour call-out and overtime.
- Physical fitness- capable of lifting and/or carrying 50 lbs. or more on a frequent basis. Walking up and down stairs.
- Environmental conditions including contact with water, chemicals, fumes, odors, as well as working outside
