AmericanAg®, a global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is looking for a Reinsurance Underwriting Intern to join our Reinsurance Strategy and Placement & Broker Assumed Operations team this summer in our office in Schaumburg, Illinois.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the reinsurance industry, specifically in underwriting and portfolio management, while contributing to meaningful projects. This position will support the Broker Assumed Operations team on a variety of projects and requests. We are looking for students between their junior and senior years of college who have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are interested in developing an understanding of property treaty reinsurance programs, broker assumed operations, and underwriting.

The Underwriting Intern Will Be Responsible For
- Demonstrating proactive problem-solving, strong analytical skills and critical thinking to find opportunities to simplify and automate data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Collaborating effectively across departments to ensure seamless customer support
- Preparing business review materials by running and creating reports, analyzing portfolio data, and building presentations
- Assisting the Broker Assumed team in monitoring open work, timelines, and deliverables
- Exhibiting strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with internal teams
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a well-organized manner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI is a plus
- Insurance knowledge or currently pursuing a degree in Insurance, Business, or a related field (preferred)
- Hands-on experience in the reinsurance industry

- Flexible work schedule with the option to work 8.33 hours per day for nine days and have the tenth day off (every other Friday)
- Option to work from home every other Friday (that is not a Friday off)
