Job Description

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country’s greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed, and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.

Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community.

Americans for Prosperity (AFP) seeks an Energy Policy Analyst to assist its effort in developing a reform agenda for growth and energy abundance nationally and across the 50 states. We seek a liberty-minded individual with experience in regulatory policy who recognizes that freedom and opportunity lead to prosperity. Reporting to one of AFP’s Policy Portfolio Directors, the candidate will work collaboratively with our Energy Policy Fellow and other members of the team to craft analysis and other content related to current legislation, policy proposals, and provide research to support our policy initiatives.

If you are excited to drive a national conversation around issues critical to the kind of reforms needed to drive economic progress and energy abundance and looking for an out-of-the-box policy career opportunity, apply today!

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Work to advance the principles of a free and open society by producing analysis and research material to assist in the production of policy products, including but not limited to issue summaries, issue briefs, advocacy tools, testimony, opinion and commentary, and any other material needed to support the organization's engagement efforts.
  • Assist with the development of letters of support for legislation at the federal and state level, as well as internal briefing documents for staff and management on an as-needed basis.
  • Aid in the translation of complex issues into talking points/written text for communications and grassroots teams.
  • Analyze legislation to evaluate its alignment to AFP’s policy priorities.
  • Work with state chapters to better understand the impact of current federal and state legislation and regulatory policies.
  • Assist on other special projects as needed.

Knowledge And Skills You Bring To The Organization

  • A minimum of two years of experience working in a related field (i.e. policy analysis, Capitol Hill position, etc.).
  • Expertise in energy policy and a familiarity with the general regulatory process at the state or federal level.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, environment.
  • Integrity, humility, and an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • A positive attitude and an earnest interest in providing good customer service to our members, partners, and state chapters.
  • A firm commitment to advancing a society of equal rights and mutual benefit where people can succeed by creating value for others.
