Position Title: Bilingual Per Diem Nurse- RN

The clinic operates M-F, 9am - 5pm and we are looking for someone for 2 days a week regularly and potentially more days for coverage during periods when staff are taking time off from work.
About Americares:
The mission of the Americares Free Clinics is to provide quality health care to low-income, uninsured patients in a setting where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. Americares opened its first clinic in 1994 to expand access to care for the working poor. Over the years, our program has grown to become the largest free clinic network in the state with four locations serving 2,000 patients annually. Today, our clinics in Bridgeport, Danbury, Norwalk and Stamford are the primary source of free medical care for the uninsured in Fairfield County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Demonstrate professionalism and skill in working with staff and patients.
-Participate as a member of the medical team in all aspects of clinic operations.
- Follow established protocols, regulations, compliance, and best practices
-Demonstrate nursing skills in patient assessment, taking patient history, triaging patients, onsite POCT, administering vaccinations, minor treatments under the direction of the clinic provider (neb treatments, ear irrigation) providing patient education and medication instructions.
-Be available to support the nursing staff in relation to tests performed, referrals to be made, charting systems and other procedural decisions.
-Ensure that AFC policies are enforced, especially as they relate to Universal Precautions, waste disposal, collection/handling of laboratory samples, and fire, safety and first-aid policies.
-Be responsible for special assignments and projects as designated by Clinic Director, including medical interpretation as needed
-Acknowledge that AFC maintains a policy and procedure manual at all locations and agree to follow the policies and procedures set forth within the manual.

Key Requirements and Competencies:
-Connecticut licensed registered nurse with minimum one year of experience working with adults with chronic medical problems
-Demonstrated clinical skills
-Proven ability to work compassionately in a fast-paced medical environment with a vulnerable patient population.
-Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
-Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communications skills, both written and verbal in both Spanish and English
-Ability to work independently and as a part of a team inclusive of volunteers
-Team orientation; balanced focus on personal accountability and team goals
-US work authorization is required for this role.
