We are seeking a full-time Operations Manager for our main Mason, MI location. This is a hazardous materials environment. Typical schedule is Monday-Friday and home nightly, but occasional weekend work may be required. Hours will vary depending on the work load. Job Duties
- Lead and manage all aspects of our chemical distribution center operations, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement and enforce rigorous safety protocols to create a secure and compliant work environment for handling lubricants and solvents.
- Manage order processing to ensure timely deliveries and meet customer satisfaction goals.
- Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of production and delivery equipment (e.g., filling lines, pumps, mixing stations) to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations for the safe transportation of hazardous materials (hazmat).
- Ensure adherence to EPA, OSHA, DHS, state and local regulations.
- Organize and maintain driver and hazmat certification files for regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate the efficient flow of lubricants and solvents through the facility, including loading and unloading of trucks and railcars.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation vendors to secure competitive freight rates.
- Conduct informative facility tours for stakeholders and potential clients, showcasing safe handling practices for lubricants and solvents.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for hazmat situations, ensuring the safety of employees and the environment.
- Continuous recruitment of excellent plant and driver personnel.
Job Requirements
- 5-10 years Management experience required.
- 5-10 years Similar experience in the transportation/logistics industry preferred.
- Proven track record of leading and improving operational efficiency in a safety-critical environment.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations for handling and transporting hazardous materials.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and ensure clear communication with all shareholders.
- Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
- Lifting requirements limited to 75 lbs. in the form of samples, supplies, etc.
- Hand manipulation is required for operating computers and various equipment, simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- Right and/or left hand utilized.
- Occasional need for reaching and/or pulling above the shoulders for supplies, as well as below the shoulders for same.
- Must be willing and able to travel to other locations for short periods of time such as client sites of operation.
- Computer proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word
