Kentucky College Coaches is an AmeriCorps program that has been serving Kentucky high school students since 2010! Our program model is helping students increase their ACT scores, identify career goals, find scholarship money, and have a solid plan to guide them after high school. The evaluation of the program shows that students who spend time with a Kentucky College Coach go to college at a rate 16% higher than students who don’t have a coach. This program works - participating students are more prepared for college and careers!
Description of position:
As a Kentucky College Coaches AmeriCorps member, you will mentor students from low-income and underserved backgrounds. You will help students (grades 9-12) navigate the milestones they face in high school as they move toward graduation and decide what to do next. You will have a group of students whom you will meet with individuals and in small groups throughout the year, providing coaching geared to the needs of individual students. You will also help with the whole school’s efforts for helping all students become college and work-ready. Your one-year commitment will change lives!
Dates: ASAP - May 31, 2024 (Possible extension to 7/31/2024)*
Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday
Pay: $1,810 per month in living allowance, less FICA and other applicable taxes

Qualifications:
- Associates degree or 2 years of college
- 1 year of relevant work experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Mentoring experience
Responsibilities
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to students, fostering their personal and academic growth.
- Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage with students and their families.
- Conduct interviews and assessments to identify student needs and tailor support accordingly.
- Organize and facilitate workshops and public speaking events to promote college readiness.
- Collaborate with educational staff to enhance the overall learning environment and student experience.
- Utilize analysis skills to evaluate student progress and adapt strategies as necessary.
