What are the responsibilities and job description for the Connected Schools Fellow position at AmeriCorps?
The Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service at GW is seeking a VISTA to serve as a Connected Schools Fellow VISTA in the Office of School Improvement and Supports in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). The VISTA will increase the capacity of the DCPS Connected Schools team through new research, partnership development, identification of best practices, and creation of new tools. The VISTA will work for one year with GW and DCPS staff and community members and will be able to build education and community school-related knowledge and experience, as well partnership development, project management, and communication skills. The VISTA will have the opportunity to work on a collaborative team, dedicated to serving school communities furthest from opportunity. The year-long project term is somewhat variable, based on the start date, but will likely begin in July 2025. We are seeking candidates who excel in relationship-building, are results-oriented, have strong communication skills and experience working with data. This is a full-time (40hrs a week) 12-month service term with the GWServes AmeriCorps VISTA Program.
Member Duties : The VISTA will increase the capacity of the DCPS Connected Schools Initiative through new research, identification of best practices, and creation of new tools. • Develop materials and training tools for the launch of the Connected Schools database • Create systems for quarterly data collection and support for users • Develop communication strategies using various mediums, including social media campaigns • Create communication materials, such as flyers, one pagers, and infographics • Improve capacity to gather data, assess program quality and report information about Connected Schools • Increase awareness of Connected School programs among students, families, and broader school communities • Increase financial, human, and in-kind resources as well as strengthened infrastructure to meet student needs
