What are the responsibilities and job description for the Destined for Greatness – Digital Learning Lab (LitMN) position at AmeriCorps?
The purpose of Destined for Greatness is to empower and motivate at-risk youth ages 11 to 21 years old. Our mission is to show these youth that no matter what their downfalls have been, there is always a way to rise up above. The DFG Mentoring Program provides tools to help young people truly become Destined for Greatness! We educate, encourage, and empower individuals to do things that once may have seemed impossible to achieve. The project goal is to build strong leaders and future professionals. We must stop the streets and crime from taking our future generations and turning them into mere statistics. Our topics include, but are not limited to: hygiene, self-esteem, education, digital literacy, and job readiness. Our DFG Digital Literacy learning lab is a curated space for all community members to come learn new skills, gain digital access and become tech savvy. We are the Detroit home base for all individuals and families in need of essential services. Our Literacy Leader will have a healthy and thriving environment to be a part of and gain professional development skillsets. This opportunity will allow you to contribute to the history being made throughout the world.
Member Duties : Since the pandemic, technology has taught us in particular that digital literacy is a must-have skill to thrive. The goal of this project is to use a survey/research approach and pre- & post-test observations to assist underserved residents in of City of Detroit exit the digital divide. Digital Literacy member duties are: evaluating the effectiveness of the DFG tech hub and digital literacy courses for youth and adult participants, developing long-term relationships with our sponsors and digital literacy partners, developing and implementing digital literacy training for adult learners, improving the database, establishing research measures, and tracking program goals and outcomes. Our office is open daily; however, this opportunity can be done teleserving with a weekly check-in and AT LEAST 1 day a week in person. *Position is part of Literacy Leadership program of Literacy Minnesota (LitMN).
