L.A. Works Public Health AmeriCorps (Full-Time)

L.A. Works’ AmeriCorps Public Health program aims to help meet public health needs of local communities by providing needed capacity and support in state and local public health settings and advancing more equitable health outcomes for communities who are currently or historically underserved. Some of our focus areas include: -Health equity and social determinants of health -Access to services and reducing barriers to care -Behavioral health (mental health and substance use disorder) We are looking to place full-time and reduced half time members at each of our partner sites, under the supervision of the host site supervisors as well as L.A. Works’ Public Health Coordinator. A general list of what member roles may entail include: -Physical and mental health education and awareness -Conducting needs assessments and focus groups -Emotional regulation skill building -Crisis response -Capacity Building -Community outreach -Health and social services navigation
