What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maggie's Place Live In Summer AmeriCorps Stability Mentor position at AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps Stability Mentors are on the front lines of the fight to overcome Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), prevent trauma, and break the relentless cycles of poverty and substance use. Members will work together in their house teams to coordinate responsibilities within the home, support mothers and their babies, and respond to conflicts and crises. AmeriCorps members transform lives through hope, love and a dedication to servant leadership.
Member Duties : * Foster a home environment where all who enter feel safe and welcomed * Serve as Stability Mentors, modeling the skills and capabilities that enable moms respond adaptively to adversity and develop resiliency * Coordinate care as a team with other members and staff * Respond to emergencies and conflicts within the home * Manage programming, donations, house and car maintenance, and/or volunteers in the home * Plan and participate in community functions including celebrations, house events and weekly meetings, and AmeriCorps community events * Provide transportation in Maggie’s Place cars for moms and babies * Provide daytime and overnight house coverage shifts including responding to the phone, welcoming visitors, receiving donations, assisting moms in move-ins/move-outs, and responding to general needs * Support moms in recovery from substance abuse (including opioid addiction) and provide one-on-one coaching to address risk factors common to addiction
