What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rural Action Rural Renewal position at AmeriCorps?
Nestled in the foothills of Appalachian Ohio, Rural Action was founded in 1991 on the principle that locally-based, sustainable, and inclusive development is the main strategy for building resilient rural Appalachian communities. We place VISTAs with small organizations in the region to focus on building capacity for: *Healthy Futures *Economic Development, and *Environmental Stewardship Just like how roots get water and nutrients to the rest of the tree, our VISTAs connect with community members to improve the overall effectivness, efficiency, and sustainability of organizations and agencies that improve quality of life in Appalachian Ohio.

Member Duties : AmeriCorps members in this program will create outreach materials, manage organizational communications, plan community events, schedule and implement workshops, build systems such as volunteer databases, and survey and communicate with Appalachian Ohioans who benefit from community development programming. They will also participate in Corps-wide training and service experiences and help Rural Action stay true to our roots by participating in steering and strategic planning. Members will serve with one of these sites: *Tri County Career Center (workforce readiness) *Solid Ground Farm and learning center (environmental stewardship) *Rendville Historical Preservation Society (economic opportunities in heritage tourism) *Appalachian Children's Coalition (healthy futures) *Rural Action (community development)
Program Benefits : Health Coverage* , Training , Education award upon successful completion of service , Childcare assistance if eligible , Living Allowance , Relocation Allowance , Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend .
Permits attendance at school during off hours , Car recommended , Permits working at another job during off hours .
