Job Summary
The Retirement Benefits Specialist is responsible for the daily administration of the AmeriHealth Caritas Retirement Plans with a specific focus on data integrity. This position also handles the payments for all benefits to the vendors for the associate benefits plans. This position requires interaction with associates of all levels, former associates and retirees, Payroll, HRIS, the 401(k) and deferred compensation plan providers, the pension payor, actuaries, Legal, Treasury, and consultants. This position reports to the Benefits Manager.

Job Summary
The Retirement Benefits Specialist is responsible for the daily administration of the AmeriHealth Caritas Retirement Plans with a specific focus on data integrity. This position also handles the payments for all benefits to the vendors for the associate benefits plans. This position requires interaction with associates of all levels, former associates and retirees, Payroll, HRIS, the 401(k) and deferred compensation plan providers, the pension payor, actuaries, Legal, Treasury, and consultants. This position reports to the Benefits Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the administration of the defined benefit Pension Plan utilizing the EEPoint System.
- Performs audits of the pension data contained in the EE Point system and monthly files to ensure data integrity.
- Meets with and counsels prospective retirees on their retirement options.
- Works directly with the Plan actuaries on complex pension calculations.
- Compiles retirement paperwork and forwards to retiree reviewing for accuracy of data.
- Enters paperwork to initiate pension payments directly in the pension payor’s system.
- Processes address changes, tax withholdings, death notifications, etc.
- Works directly with outside counsel on Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.
- Manages annual pension projects such as the Annual Funding Notice and Term Vested Statements.
- Coordinates with outside consultants on regulatory changes that may impact the plans and implements needed administrative changes to ensure compliance.
- Performs the data reconciliation for the annual pension valuation process.
- Collects data for the annual 401(k) and pension audits with internal and external auditors.
- Assists with the filings of Form 5500 filings for 401(k), pension and health and welfare plans, non-discrimination testing, and PBGC premium filings.
- Manages the bi-weekly file transmission process for the 401(k) and Deferred Compensation Plans.
- Validates bi-weekly changes report and works with Payroll to ensure compliance.
- Corrects errors as necessary, coordinating with Payroll and Empower.
- Works directly with Treasury to wire the bi-weekly funds to the 401(k) and Deferred Compensation Plans.
- Provides associate education, guidance, and problem resolution for related issues, including retiree consultation (health and life insurance, Medicare, 401(k), pension).
- Independently processes benefit premium payments.
- Reviews and reconciles invoices and runs self-bill calculations for premium payments to vendors on varying schedules such as weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly, depending on vendor requirements.
- Processes the wires for transmission totaling tens of millions of dollars on a monthly basis.
- Calculates and processes workers' compensation payments quarterly and on the needed schedules for the direct payments to the monopolistic state funds.
- Ensures the Benefits webpage is up to date for areas of responsibility.
- Works with HRIS, Corporate Systems, and Payroll as necessary to troubleshoot system and data integrity issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or relevant work experience.
- Strong functional/technical skills with a working knowledge of ERISA, IRS laws and current regulations pertinent to retirement plans.
- Prior experience with 401k and pension administration is required.
- Prior experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and expertise in data analysis.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and communication skills to facilitate conversations with internal and external parties.
- Strong team player with demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels.
- Adherence to the highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.
