What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Tax Accountant position at Ameriprise Financial Inc?
Key Responsibilities
Independently prepare federal tax returns, supporting schedules, and maintain accurate work paper files. Coordinate with internal and external business partners to receive tax data necessary for tax returns.
Independently prepare quarterly federal tax provisions and related journal entries, effective tax rate schedules, and income tax disclosures for financial statement reporting. Complete workpapers associated with these schedules and maintain accurate records.
Support tax-related projects. Represent corporate tax in enterprise-wide projects by gathering and documenting the tax department's business requirements. Communicate status updates to management.
Research tax and accounting treatment as needed and communicate findings to tax department management.
Provide IRS audit support by preparing responses to information requests from the exam team.
Support SOX controls, identify overall process improvements and communicate recommendations to management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
3-5 years of proven experience
Strong analytical skills
Onesource or other tax preparation software experience
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Accounting
Organizational skills
Proactive
