The Inventory Release Coordinator ensures that all finished foods are reviewed and released in compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. This position is responsible for coordinated quality assurance processes related to positive release and communicating product status to key stakeholders. Additionally, this role serves as a designated backup for the QA Manager, who oversees positive release, assisting in managing holds, rework, release, and other compliance-related decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support QA manager in oversight of record reviewers and visual inspection team
- Review finished product documentation and ensure accuracy before final release
- Manage product hold and release processes in accordance with AmeriQual policies and regulatory requirements
- Communicate hold and rework statuses daily with management and other departments
- Conduct end item product testing and visual examination to verify compliance with specifications
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams to ensure timely release of product
- Assist in resolving discrepancies in records by collecting missing documentation and addressing deficiencies
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical record retention systems for quality documents
- Monitor and ensure adherence to GMP, FDA, USDA, and other regulatory standards
- Serve as the designated backup for the QA Manager who oversees positive release, assuming managerial duties as needed
- Identify and escalate any non-conforming product issues to management for corrective action
- Participate in audits and customer visits to provide quality-related information as necessary
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following company and regulatory safety standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support quality assurance objective
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field required
- 2 years of experience in quality assurance, inventory release, or a related field within food manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, SQF, HACCP) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Proficiency in data entry and record-keeping systems
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across departments
- Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately
- Experience with statistical process control and product testing methods preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and quality management software
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The position will also frequent the production floor, operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions. The work environment is in a facility where nuts, fruits, and other allergens are present.
