Job Summary
The forklift technician will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on forklifts and other material handling equipment, including inspecting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation of the vehicles. This position will also work within the maintenance department repairing machines and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and safety features
- Change engine oil, filters, belts and other parts as needed
- Adjust lift heights, tilt functions and other settings to ensure proper performance and safety
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on equipment, replace faulty components and perform necessary repairs
- Identify the root cause of malfunctions using diagnostic tools and manuals
- Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules and parts used
- Adhere to safety procedures when working on equipment
- Other duties as assigned as this position will also be working within the maintenance department
Skills :
- Must have experience repairing and maintaining various types of equipment including electric, gas-powered and propane-powered
- Forklift Certification
- Experience with equipment types such as Hyster, Raymond, and Yale
- Must have general math, reading, writing, and good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand for extended periods of time as well as walk and climb stairs. Bending and squatting may be required along with lifting up to 50 pounds. The associate is frequently required to use arms to reach out and us hands to grasp objects and/or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
