Responsible for the success of the cross-sell program within the mortgage division. Proactively contacts mortgage customers post-closing, for the purpose of cross selling other bank products and services. Opens deposit accounts ensuring proper policy and procedures are followed.  Responsible for the tracking of deposits obtained and reporting to management of the Mortgage and Retail division. Other duties as assigned or needed.           

 

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

·     Using established bank policies and procedures, properly identify prospective customers; correspond with prospects to determine which products and services best fit his/her needs.

·     Work with Retail Mortgage Sales Coordinator to complete the necessary documents to open accounts; order checks, deposit slips, debit cards and endorsement stamps. 

·     Some mortgage loans require deposit accounts; the mortgage retail sales specialist will ensure the accounts are opened and funded.  These mortgage products include but are not limited to Doctor Loans.

·     Proactively call customers on the Cross-Sell Report provided by Retail Mortgage Sales Coordinator to cross sell/refer other Bank products and services. This should be done within a couple of days of the report. Follow up should be done at regular intervals.

·     Sell customers on benefits of banking with Ameris Bank and using other products and services of the Bank. Responsible for maintaining expert knowledge of the products and services. Provide referrals to other lines of business when appropriate.

·     Work as a liaison between the Mortgage and Retail Divisions of the Bank to ensure the success of deposit account acquisition and portfolio growth. 

·     Assist Loan Processors in obtaining information they cannot access from retail bank systems.

·     Responsible for meeting established monthly sales goals.

·     Properly profile each customer to determine the appropriate product and service through the information available within the Mortgage Loan Systems.

·       Research and complete outstanding issues that relates to our customers banking relationships

·     Participate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly local Mortgage Branch meetings to foster relationship between the Mortgage Bankers, the Mortgage Branch Manager, and the Retail Mortgage Support Specialist.

·     Document and report account openings to Management so the results can be reviewed and analyzed to ensure the success of the program. Make recommendations for changes to improve the results for the program in conjunction with Retail and Mortgage Management teams.

·     Practices ethical sales behaviors in accordance with Ameris’s core values of Integrity and Honesty; always acts in the best interest of the customer when offering additional products and services.                             

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

·     Excellent sales and service skills.

·     Excellent electronic written and verbal communication skills.

·     Strong ability to develop rapport and maintain relationships with mortgage, retail, and internal teams.

·     Knowledgeable of all bank products, operations, policies, and procedures.

·     Knowledgeable of all mortgage operations, policies, and procedures.

·     Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products

·     Intermediate knowledge of Mortgage Lending Systems and Retail Account Opening Platforms.

 

Industry and Work Experience:

·     4 years of banking experience required

·     Cross-selling and sales experience required

 

Academic:

·     High school diploma or GED required

·     Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field preferred
