What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trust Accountant position at AmeriServ Financial Inc.?
SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:
Perform and support daily operational activities for the division including preparation of applicable tax returns, client and governmental reports and internal management reports. Assist with the overall management and coordination of all activities performed by the Trust Operations Division while maintaining a high standard of service and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Establish and maintain control over all trust assets, client accounting records and related systems, and the related earned revenue.
2. Assist with the preparation of all required accounting and budgetary reports for management and the Board of Directors.
3. Assist with the monitoring and coordination of Trust Company Fiduciary tax filings.
4. Prepare supporting documents for regulatory reports for the company timely and accurately including monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations.
5. Prepare supporting schedules and documents for the Collective Fund financial statements and the company’s financial performance on a monthly or more frequent basis as requested.
6. Assist with the verification of the accuracy of the daily Collective Fund valuations and document this verification to satisfy audit and examination standards.
7. Contribute to the efficiencies of the Operations Division to ensure that proper systems and safeguards are maintained.
8. Adhere and enforce division policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and to ensure compliance with pertinent regulations.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

This position requires no supervision of employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is frequently required to: 1) Type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) Talk expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers or clients accurately, loudly, or quickly; 3) Hearing – perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with/without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make the discriminations in sound; 4) Specific vision abilities required by this job include: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading along with travel as required.
Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting of up to 10 pounds and/or move up to 25 pounds. This work involves sitting most of the time with walking and sitting.

REQUIRED/ PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor's degree such as Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or similar is required. Industry certification or advanced degree will be considered. Industry certification may include Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), Certified Trust Operations Professional (CTOP), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or similar.
