What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Planning/Scheduling I position at Ameron Pole Products, LLC?
In this role, the Buyer will perform supply chain and logistics functions, which may include, but are not limited to, material procurement, production planning, inventory control, outsourcing, vendor selection, and distribution. The buyer will also be responsible for creating integrated processes among internal functions such as operations, purchasing and logistics, and outside suppliers.
What You'll Do:
- Coordinate incoming movement of raw materials and delivery services to ensure material availability and delivery when needed to meet production schedules.
- Compile data on order volume, production schedules, and forecasts and apply statistical methods to estimate future materials requirements.
- Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepare and processes purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor inbound movement of materials from suppliers.
- Determine material requirements and coordinate the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production, and engineering.
- Develop specifications for new contract orders.
- Coordinate information and activities with other team members.
- May coordinate or exchange information with third parties, vendors, or customers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical duties:
- May need to walk the facility to help coordinate incoming and outgoing processes. Steel toe, hard hat required when in the yard. There is uneven terrain with forklift and heavy equipment traffic. Non-climate-controlled areas.
What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma required (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Advanced computer skills Microsoft Office, Excel, ERP systems.
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience required
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience in purchasing steel is preferred but not required

Mon-Fri 8am-5:00pm
