We are looking for a Stamping Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Owatonna, MN! This position will provide technical engineering interface with Design Engineers, tooling suppliers, quality assurance, purchasing, management, and shop floor personnel Under the general direction of the Engineering Manager this position is responsible for effective tool design, capital equipment selection, department layout design and manufacturing safety for the Punch Press department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Create clear product documentation and application notes to communicate effectively with production and Tool Room teams.
- Create internal standards to facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with Design Engineering and Product Development teams to ensure product manufacturability.
- Design and improve tooling and equipment for the stamping and machining departments.
- Analyze production issues related to stamping tooling and processes, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for tooling, equipment, and parts.
- Build relationships with vendors for efficient and cost-effective tooling procurement.
- Obtain quotes for new stamping dies from external vendors.
- Maintain tooling procedures and standards for easy access.
- Work with production teams to modify tooling and equipment for optimal productivity.
- Create and maintain routings and bill structures for stamping and machining processes.
- Prepare Capital Expenditure Requests for equipment.
- Assist with cross-functional engineering tasks as needed and ensure safety protocols are followed.
