American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ chartered national bank. Headquartered in Utah, AENB is the single largest entity within American Express’ business, currently representing more than 50 percent of the company’s Card Member Spending, nearly 90 percent of its lending, and more than 60 percent its of revenues.

About the Role:
The Enterprise Control Management team operates as a central support hub for all first-line control management teams throughout the enterprise and a key connection point with the second line of defense Global Risk & Compliance teams.
The Vice President, Enterprise Control Management will provide oversight and guidance on second line of defense risk management frameworks and establish 1LoD procedures and guidance in alignment with the frameworks. Primary responsibility will be the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework. The role will be responsible for ensuring RCSA regulatory requirements are met through procedures, guidance, training and promotion of quality and consistency throughout implementation.
The position requires the ability to effectively thrive in a dynamic environment including the ability to manage ad hoc projects that arise based on developing business needs.
Responsibilities Include:
- Subject matter expertise in operational risk frameworks, policies, procedures and trainings - especially with a first-line orientation.
- Establish procedures for RCSA and guide first line of defense implementation to standardized/consistent execution.
- Establish and own enterprise first line foundational control components (e.g. process taxonomy/inventory, first-line RCSA/PRSA methodology)
- Provide guidance to business units and functions relating to second line of defense operational risk frameworks.
- Support internal and external exam management processes through preparation and management of data requests, action implementation, and regulatory adherence for internal and external exams.
- Share insights and best practices by acting as a key leader in disseminating insights, best practices, and lessons learned across the enterprise to improve operational risk management practices.
Required Qualifications
- Deep understanding of relevant regulations and experience in operational risk framework structures.
- Significant experience in a risk/control role within a GSIB or top 10 Category I/II bank.
- Excellent communicator and collaborator across a matrix organization, including various client-facing businesses, Global Risk & Compliance, Technology, Legal (GCO), Finance, Global Services Group, and Internal Audit.
- Demonstrated track record in driving transformation and change across a global organization.
- Experience leading a global team.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong consultation, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; ability to understand complex challenges and linkages and articulate them into actionable plans to drive results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience in audit, risk, compliance or related field of expertise.
- Experience in project management, operational risk transition and implementation
Salary Range: $185,000.00 to $260,000.00 annually bonus equity (if applicable) benefits
