Position Summary :
The Controls Engineer Lead will spearhead operational and engineering excellence, driving sustainable results through a commitment to continuous improvement, daily management practices, and lean manufacturing methodologies such as Kaizen, problem-solving, 5S, and value stream mapping. This role involves the development of engineering design for AMF Bakery Systems' products, encompassing standard machines / systems, custom solutions, legacy products, and sales support. This position directly supervises others and provides guidance and engineering direction to Engineers, Controls Specialists, Assembly, Field Service and Sales.
As a key leadership figure, the Controls Engineer Lead will take ownership of design, standardization, functionality, and enhancements across the product line, reporting directly to the Operations Manager / Product Group Leader. Responsibilities include ensuring all machine designs meet the latest electrical codes, international standards, as well as any customer specifications.
Additionally, the Controls Engineer Lead is responsible for profitability of projects, by monitoring electrical design costs and electrical engineering effort for each project.
This position is critical in promoting innovation and efficiency within the engineering team. The Controls Engineer Lead will be a key contributor to product development, driving innovative solutions that enhance functionality and performance, ultimately contributing to the overall success of AMF Baker Systems.
Key Responsibilities :
Team Management :
- Lead and mentor a team of 6-12 engineers and support staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Provide clear direction, guidance, and ongoing coaching to ensure the team achieves its goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with Controls Engineering and Product Managers during the scope phase of potential projects to design electrical systems that meet customer specifications.
- Drive the engineering schedule and facilitate project meetings to ensure timely progress and alignment.
- Delegate tasks and manage all aspects of product development within the controls platform, ensuring efficient workflow.
