About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Project Management to lead and oversee the successful delivery of a portfolio of projects within our organization. The Director will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and management of multiple, complex projects that align with the company's goals. This role requires a visionary leader who can drive excellence in project management practices while fostering collaboration across departments and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and execute the project management strategy in alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the project management team to ensure the successful delivery of complex projects.
- Build and sustain a culture of high-performance project management within the organization.
- Serve as a key liaison between senior leadership and project teams, providing strategic insights and updates on project progress and challenges.
- Define and implement best practices, tools, and methodologies for project management across the organization.
Portfolio Management:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of the project portfolio to ensure timely and successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, and quality standards.
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation across projects, optimizing team and budget efficiency.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews, tracking performance, risks, and opportunities.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that project requirements and expectations are clearly defined and managed.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations to executive leadership and other key stakeholders, communicating project status, risks, and solutions.
Risk and Issue Management:
- Identify potential risks to project success and develop mitigation strategies.
- Act as a point of escalation for project issues, facilitating resolution and ensuring the impact on project outcomes is minimized.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes, systems, and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Drive initiatives to streamline project delivery, improve cross-functional collaboration, and ensure quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
Budget and Financial Oversight:
- Manage the budget for the project management department and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Work closely with finance to track project expenditures and report on financial performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven track record of managing large, cross-functional teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- PMP, PgMP, or similar certification preferred.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in industry-specific knowledge or software.
- Familiarity with project management software such as list specific tools or platforms used.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
