This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, while also fostering continuous improvement and employee engagement in safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the company's safety program, including written policies, procedures, training programs, and emergency response plans.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all departments and job sites to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; lead root cause analyses and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Partner with the Safety Committee to promote safe work practices and provide guidance on regulatory compliance (OSHA, state-specific standards, etc.).
- Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees at all levels, including onboarding, refresher, and job-specific safety training.
- Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports, training logs, and OSHA reporting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters and regulatory inspections.
- Lead or participate in the Safety Committee and collaborate with other departments on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field. Years of experience can be an alternative to higher education.
- Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), or equivalent.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
- This role requires a combination of remote work and regular presence at the manufacturing facility and job sites.
- Will involve occasional travel to off-site project locations.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in a safety leadership role, preferably within manufacturing, steel fabrication, or construction environments.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Experience with safety reporting tools, audits, and training development.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in high-pressure situations.
