Education: (1) A Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing (ie. CISSP, CISM, etc.), or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills: 1. Experience with cloud and on-prem architectures, firewalls, switch configurations, Windows, Unix.
Description
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Design, enforce, and audit Credit Union policies and procedures around network security and cybersecurity defenses: designing data structures, performance tuning, recommending security and usage policies, and assisting users to supply and use the Credit Union's data efficiently.
- Assists IT staff in technical aspects of application selection, development, and support including network and hardware configuration concerns, compatibility issues, installations and upgrades, and data management.
- Coordinates, recommends, applies, and monitors database, network, system, and user access controls.
- Researches, recommends and supports system and network tools necessary to provide a secure and flexible platform for production applications.
- Recommends standards, conventions, policies, and procedures in all areas of expertise.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Assure prompt response to and recovery from systems and network related production interruptions, across multiple hardware platforms, networks and operating systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve services to the company and/or its customers through use of new products and technologies.
- Maintain the effectiveness of network security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and access controls. Tracked through regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Problem-solving skills to offer sound solutions to security issues.
- Provide subject matter expertise for cyber security.
