What are the responsibilities and job description for the Process Control Technician position at AMG Aluminum North America?
AMG Aluminum NA (AMG Al) is seeking a Process Control Technician who will be responsible for the day-to-day lab activities, sample digestion and analysis, data entry and other aspects of our laboratory at our manufacturing facility in Robards, Kentucky.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Ensure proper sample preparation of master alloy heats for physical, chemical, and metallurgical analysis as defined in standard operating procedures and associated instructions.
· Perform analytical testing of master alloy and/or raw materials which form master alloys, through traditional instrumental, chemical, and physical analysis.
· Monitor product quality against broad and complex specifications.
· Maintain and control sample retention area for all samples required by record retention quality procedure.
· Perform application and product performance tests in molten aluminum for plant master alloy products.
· Participate in quality and continuous improvement projects and provide feedback to the project team through various analytical and physical testing.
· Update and write analytical instruction pertinent to job functions.
· Enter data and information into computer systems and/or software.
· Perform tasks in support of the ISO systems.
· Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
Qualifications, Education, and Experience Requirements
· Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training. Degree in a scientific field in preferred.
· Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
· Data analysis skills.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong mathematical skills.
· Ability to stand for long periods of time.
