The Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring execution of a compliant, effective, efficient and cost appropriate maintenance program. The Senior Manager is a key leader in lean transformation and improvement activities across the Facilities & Engineering organization.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Senior Manager Engineering - Utilities Engineering
What You Will Do

In this vital role you are responsible for the equipment maintenance strategy, reliability, operations, and sustainability programs for all utility equipment at ARI. The Senior Manager is responsible for ensuring execution of a compliant, effective, efficient and cost appropriate maintenance program. The Senior Manager is a key leader in lean transformation and improvement activities across the Facilities & Engineering organization.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, coaching and technical expertise to a team of Utility engineers responsible for the operation and maintenance strategy of Plant Utility, Clean Utility, Electrical, and HVAC equipment supplying utilities throughout the campus.
- Drive sustainability efforts to meet Amgen’s commitments.
- Collaborate with external partners to forecast Utility budgeting.
- Drive improvements within the department to maintain inspection readiness.
- Own the asset selection process for F&E’s Global Lifecycle Asset Management Program (GLAM).
- Mentor staff through the execution of small capital projects.
- Find opportunities for continuous improvement, recommend solutions, and manage implementation of initiatives. Foster an environment of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the F&E organization.
- Oversee the Internal Service Provider for Central Inventory (equipment spare parts).
- Mentor F&E staff to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership to continuously improve maintenance strategies and performance through the use of predictive technologies and condition based analytics.
- Collaborate with key customers and support groups regarding maintenance activities and strategies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment reliability and minimize impact of maintenance activities to ongoing operations.
- Ensure activities are accomplished in accordance with cGMP requirements and expectations.
- Ensure activities are accomplished in a safe manner.
- Ensure high resource utilization. Maximize staff productivity.
- Provide support when needed, which may be outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Engineering experience OR
- Associate’s degree and 10 years of Engineering experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Engineering experience OR
- Master’s degree and 6 years of Engineering experience OR
- Doctorate degree and 2 years of Engineering experience
- In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 6 years’ experience in engineering or maintenance or related function
- 3 years of direct supervisory experience.
- 3 years in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industries
- Extensive knowledge and experience with electro-mechanical equipment and associated maintenance practices.
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience using a computerized maintenance management system.
- Strong skills and experience in development and management of maintenance programs including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Proven troubleshooting, problem solving and investigational skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and facilitation skills and ability to work in a collaborative team based environment.
- Ability to work with minimum direction.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively set priorities.
