About the Role
This is a full-time, year-round position responsible for the care and maintenance of vertebrate and invertebrate animals at Amherst College. The successful candidate will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of animal facilities according to federal standards regulating the care and use of laboratory animals.
- Ordering supplies, maintaining relevant equipment, and keeping accurate records and protocols.
- Care and maintenance of vertebrates and invertebrates, including aquatic and terrestrial animals.
- Training and supervising student assistants to handle animal room duties.
- Monitoring and reporting on animal health and working with attending veterinarian to provide aid to animals when needed.
