Amherst College invites applications for the Civil Rights and Title IX Intake, Care, and Education Coordinator position. The Civil Rights and Title IX Intake, Care, and Education Coordinator is a full-time, year-round position starting at $65,000 - commensurate with experience. The Civil Rights and Title IX (CRTIX) Intake, Care, and Education Coordinator (“Coordinator”) reports to and works closely with the Director of Civil Rights and Title IX. The Coordinator provides a critical role in achieving and advancing the overall goals of the Civil Rights and Title IX Office, housed in Amherst’s Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI). The Coordinator supports the diverse Amherst College community members regarding concerns of bias, discrimination, harassment, and/or sexual misconduct to the College, manages the office’s care and case management functions, and develops and delivers proactive and responsive programming, trainings, and educational opportunities.
The Coordinator will have deep knowledge of and experience working with constituents around topics and issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Coordinator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to, community care and support through intake meetings and follow-up; education and training development and delivery; preparation/processing of correspondence, reports, and presentations; and assistance with special projects. The Coordinator will also provide primary support in case record and data management, preparation of any materials related to data or case management, including annual reports, and required data reporting to state or federal government and/or the College’s insurers. The Coordinator supports the CRTIX office in achieving its vision and mission of equity and inclusion and student support services.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Intake and Care Functions
Assist with the intake, outreach, and response to allegations of violations of all College nondiscrimination policies including, but not limited to, the Non-Discrimination and Harassment Policy and Interim Title IX policy
Provide continued follow-up with concerned parties, as needed, to provide support and resources, updates, and to help determine next steps
Assist with the seamless facilitation and implementation of supportive measures for complainants, respondents, and witnesses
Builds productive relationships and works cooperatively with others, across and/or within departments and divisions
At the direction of the Director, prepare documentation to initiate resolution process and provide appropriate notice to all parties
Education Functions
Develop curriculum and deliver trainings and workshops on issues of bias, discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence, aimed at effectively engaging a diverse audience
Solicits, collects, and analyzes feedback from community members on trainings
Collaborate with campus partners to create robust CRTIX programming for the community
Maintain records regarding participant training in data management system
Represent the CRTIX office at College events
Maintain the CRTIX office social media accounts and website
Assist in developing outreach materials for the office
Serve as a resource to community members with questions or concerns related to issues of bias, discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence
Collaborate with various campus constituencies and offices
Case Management Functions
Track and maintain detailed data of all bias, discrimination, harassment reports from intake to resolution, coordinating with community partners, as needed, to ensure complete case records
Work with Amherst College Police Department to provide timely information regarding reported Clery Act concerns
Assists with internal or external audits, as needed
Monitor case resolution timeframes
Assist in regular data analysis and the annual preparation of a detailed CRTIX office report to the community
Stay abreast of state and federal data sharing requirements and work closely with the Director of Civil Rights and Title IX to ensure timely filing of all information to state or federal government
Solicits, collects and analyzes feedback from community members who work with the CRTIX office
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor's Degree
3-5 years of related experience
Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
Capacity to serve all community members with impartiality
Experience and comfort in collecting, tracking, maintaining, and analyzing data
Strong written and verbal communication
Experience designing and delivering engaging educational content
Proficient in basic website and social media management for professional accounts
Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, and customer service skills
Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and/or Google Apps. Ability to adapt to new software and learn and adopt new computing devices to enhance work assigned
Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively, and to handle multiple priorities while remaining attentive to detail
Preferred
Higher Education experience, specifically student affairs or social justice fields
Previous training and work with Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Clery Act, and educational civil rights compliance
Familiarity with Maxient or other conduct management systems
