Job Description: The DCLS serves as the Chemical Hygiene Officer, Radiation Safety Officer, and Laser Safety Officer of the College. They report to the Associate Provost and Associate Dean of the Faculty and work closely with the Department of Environmental Health and Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and administer programs for chemical hygiene, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide training in laboratory safety, hazardous waste management, radiation safety, and inventory management.
- Advise science faculty, staff, and students on regulatory compliance and liability.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Biochemistry or related field.
- Experience with safety and regulatory compliance in a laboratory or industrial setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software programs.
- Strong time management, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- A commitment to working effectively with diverse individuals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field.
- CHMM certification.
- Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer certification.
- More than three years of related experience in a college or university setting.
