Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Head Summer Lifeguard position. The Head Summer Lifeguard is a part-time, casual position, without benefits, starting at $19.00/hour - commensurate with experience. Given Amherst’s distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
The Head Summer Lifeguard supports camps and other summer programs that use the College’s pool and works under the supervision of the Associate Director of Athletics.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provides overall supervision to lifeguard staff
- Prepares weekly schedules and covers for staff absences
- Maintain the safety of those in and around the pool
- Ensure the pool is clean and ready for daily use, report any unsafe conditions or equipment
- Communicate and enforce pool rules
- Responds to emergencies
Qualifications:
Required
- Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- An acceptable criminal offender records information (CORI) check
- Commitment to or experience working with diverse communities
- Successful completion of required reference and background checks
Preferred
- Prior supervisor experience
