What you'll do:
As a Building/Property Maintenance Inspector, you will:
- Conduct on-stie inspections of new construction, renovations, and exiting structures - both residential and
- Ensure compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and related local ordinances
- Inspect structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems for safety and code adherence
- Evaluate properties for ongoing maintenance code compliance
- Review construction for adherence to approved plans
- Document findings through detailed inspection reports and logs
- Respond to citizen complaints and inquiries regarding code enforcement
- Support other duties as assigned within the department
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least three years of experience and general knowledge of building construction, fire protection, or property maintenance work
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and construction methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read construction documents and navigate permit management systems
- A team player who can also work independently in the field
Required licenses and certifications:
- Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Must possess or obtain and maintain Combination Residential Inspector certifications and Combination
