What are the responsibilities and job description for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) PK-12 position at Amherst County School District?
Reports to : Chief Student Services Officer
General Definition of Work : The Board Certified Behavior Analyst shall demonstrate knowledge and skills in applied behavior analysis and behavior intervention plan development, implementation and evaluation.
Essential Functions :
- Performs observations and assessments relevant to the design of positive interventions and supports for students
- Analyze personal, social and environmental conditions to better understand the variables that may influence the behavior of students
- Define interventions designed for students so that the changes to be achieved are measurable
- Develop and recommend the goals of behavior change for students
- Implement scientifically research based interventions
- Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments, develop written reports of the results of such assessments, and develop or assist in the behavior intervention plans for students
- Systematically evaluate the consistent implementation of student behavior intervention on plans through personal observation, staff interviews and review of progress monitoring
- Provide professional learning opportunities in a variety of areas related to positive behavior supports, behavior management, positive and effective approaches to preventing and addressing challenging behaviors and applied behavior analysis
- Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations at the federal, state and local level
- Assist in the I / O development of IEP goals, programs and data collections systems for students with autism using applied behavior analysis
- Monitor existing and potentially new classrooms for students with autism for program development and implementation
- Provide assistance with creating and monitoring summer programs for students with autism
- Maintain MANDT certification
- Reports to Supervisor of Student Services
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Job Experience : Experience working in a public school setting and administering all aspects of behavioral services to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and autism is preferred. Shall hold a valid and current license with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Prefer at least 3 years of experience using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), verbal training, visual strategies and communication strategies. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, as well as work independently with minimal direction.
License / Endorsements : Must have a valid and current license with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Must have a current Virginia teaching license with either an endorsement in Special Education General Curriculum k-12 or Special Education Adaptive Curriculum k-12.
Contract Period : 10 months
