Amherst Middle School is looking for two (2) AM Cafeteria Worker.The first position is open immediately, and is 5.5 hours a day- 9:30a,-3:00pm. The second position is 5 hours a day- 10:00am-3:00pm, and starts August 2025. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, this is the position for you! All the perks of working in a school district: nights, weekends, holidays, school vacations and summers off! Experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate. This position reports directly to the Chef-Manager.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Preparation and serving of breakfast food and beverage items.
- Work along side Chef-Manager to complete preparation of items for lunch and the following day’s meals.
- Help prepare the lunch line for service and help serve first lunch.
- Keep a neat, clean, and organized workstation that uphold the state and federal standards.
Minimum Requirements:
SKILLS:
- Required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
- Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include operating equipment used in
school cafeteria; maintaining accurate records; and providing customer service.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Must be able to perform basic math; understand written procedures and standardized recipes, write routine documents, and speak
clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include food safety and sanitation
requirements, and basic kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Safe Food Handlers Course must be completed within 30 days of hire.
ABILITY:
- Flexibility is required to work with others, potentially work at other schools in the district if needed, and ability to work around product
availability.
- Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related
equipment.
- Work on your feet for the entirety of the scheduled shift.
- Communicate well with others.
- Must be able to handle significant lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, and
crouching. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 25% walking, and 70% standing. The job is performed under some temperature
extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
